      • Disinfect reusable equipment after use on a client to prevent disease transmission.
      • Disinfect reusable equipment with appropriate disinfectant required for the equipment.
      • Fully immerse reusable equipment in the disinfectant.
      • Clean and low-level disinfect low-risk environmental surfaces (e.g., manicure/waxing tables, chairs, or beds that are covered with a single-use towel/ cover) at the end of the day or when visibly soiled.
      • Provide an intermediate-level disinfectant and ensure it is easily accessible.
      • Do not spray or wipe equipment and surfaces with 70-90% alcohol. Alcohol evaporates quickly and will not reach the 10 minute contact time. Equipment must be fully immersed in the alcohol.
    • Did operator properly use and maintain cleaning and disinfecting products?
      • Provide a disinfecting container with a lid or cover that is capable of fully immersing equipment in the disinfectant.

      • Keep records for invasive procedures including, which procedure was done and the part of the body the procedure was done to, client name and contact information, service provider name and contact information, explanation of and risks associated with the procedure, date of procedure and lot numbers and expiry date of the pre-packaged sterile equipment used in the procedure.       • In the client record, document lot number and expiry date of the pre-packaged sterile equipment used in the procedure.
      • Before starting the procedure, provide clients with an explanation of and risks associated with the invasive procedure.
      • In the client record, make note of when you explain the service and any risks associated with the service to the client.
      • Keep invasive procedure records for one year at personal service setting and readily available for an additional two years.
      • Provide records to a medical officer of health or public health inspector on request.
      • Records must be made by the operator or personal service worker who provided the explanation and information of the invasive procedure.
      • Provide clients with verbal and written after-care instructions for invasive and laser services.

    • Did operator discard single use equipment immediately after each use?
      • Ensure that all equipment designed for single use or made of a material that does not withstand cleaning and disinfection or sterilization is discarded immediately after use (e.g., nail files, buffer blocks, gloves, sponges, applicator sticks, ear piercing adapters).
      • Roll-on wax cartridge must be used for one client only and discarded immediately after use. Do not reuse and/or refill roll-on wax cartridges.
    • Did operator properly disinfect equipment and surfaces?
      • Low-level disinfectant: Mix 2 ml (½ tsp) of 5.25% bleach with 1 L (4 cups) of cold water. Ensure the disinfectant remains wet on the equipment for 10 minutes. Prepare a new bleach and water solution daily.
