Inspection summary
Kamo Bakery has been inspected 6 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since April 27, 2022. The most recent inspection, on June 11, 2026, recorded 7 infractions.
3 of 6 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 7 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Pests, Protecting food from contamination and Cleaning and sanitizing.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their findings differently, so we group them by what they mean for your health. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food, supplies and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded 3 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 11, 2026. For example:
The premises is free of pests.
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food and supplies are stored and handled: kept covered, off the floor, and away from anything that could contaminate them. Where food is served, raw meat must be kept away from ready-to-eat food, a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 11, 2026. For example:
Contaminated food is not stored, displayed or offered for sale.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Surfaces, dishes and tools that touch food or people must be cleaned and then sanitized or disinfected. Inspectors check sanitizer strength, dishwasher temperatures and how cleaning is done. Poor sanitizing lets germs survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 2 times on June 11, 2026. For example:
The premises and all equipment, utensils, and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be clean and in good repair, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate health risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded 3 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 11, 2026. For example:
Operation of premises is in accordance with approved floor plans and specifications.
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on April 26, 2023. For example:
An operator of a food service establishment must develop, maintain, and follow written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur in the operation of the establishment.

Went twice in less than 24 hours because my family loved their paklavas so much! Our personal favs were the pistachio paklava and the walnut paklava. The owner, Kamo, is super nice and caring! I told him it was my first time visiting and wanted some recommendations and he was very kind to offer me a sample. Their paklavas are so flakey and not too sweet which is perfect for my family! Will definitely come back again :))

Was walking on Victoria St. and randomly decided to try it because it had a lot of 5 star reviews. First time in the store, and got to try a sample and had the young guy explain all of the pastries. The pastries were made fresh, and were so delicious. Wish I lived in the area so I could come try it often. This bakery suited me because many had pistachios in it!

I was taking a stroll in the vicinity and stumbled upon this bakery. The staff was very kind and patient as she explained the different types of middle eastern pastries. I bought a box of pistachio paklava, two Royal paklavas, a walnut bird nest, and a pistachio cookie. The paklavas were the best I had in my life. I finished the entire box in one sitting. It’s sad that they would be closing down soon. If you live in the area, make sure to give this store a try! The price was very reasonable too.

🌰 A gem of a bakery but unfortunately, they are selling their business. Last day will be Saturday, August 1, 2026 - get your delicious pastries before this family business door closes. Kamo and his wife are so sweet-literally and so welcoming. We will miss their warm personalities, delightful pastries and samoon bread! We wish them well in their new journey. 🥰

This place gotta be 5/5. We don’t have much experience when it comes to middle eastern dessert, but now my partner and I are a fan! The staff there was super helpful and kind. Knowing it’s our first time, she explained everything—customer favorites, each dessert’s flavor and texture, her personal recommendation and what type of customers like which products. They offer free full size sample for any first time customer! As we tried the Pistachio Paklava, we were hit by the crispy texture and the pistachio flavor!!! It was such pleasant feeling that makes you understand why dessert are also called “treats”. 🤩 Aside from the star product—Pistachio Paklava. We bought pistachio and cashew bird nest. Cashew is the staff’s personal recommendation and I definitely liked it more, but both were great. It is definitely the most crispy dessert of the store. The Classic Paklava was great too, layers and layers of dough with strong pistachio flavor, easily a 10/10. The Royal Paklava is the one that has the most concentrated pistachio taste. The dough is less crispy, but it’s a very well-rounded texture. Pistachio cookie is also very nice, the flavor of pistachio is divine. I can’t write to pistachio chocolate cookie because I haven’t eaten it yet, I’m saving it for tomorrow 😇 A great thing about these dessert is they can be kept up to 3 weeks in room temperature, so I have time to enjoy these treats. We will definitely be back! Thank you for the treats. I’ve had limited experience and from this experience my impression is it’s VERY sweet. Today I learned many store infuse syrup to make the dessert heavy, because it’s sold by weight… but not this store! The dessert was sweet, but balanced and doesn’t make you feel overwhelmed with sugar. Oh! They have a documentary on CBC on the store’s history, check it out and spread the word 💫
