      • Last Inspection:- High level disinfectants are not being tested and verified daily using proper test strips. Ensue the high level disinfectant is tested daily using the test strips specified by the disinfectant manufacturer. Ensure records are kept of: test dates, whether the solution passed/failed, when the disinfectant was changed and the worker’s initials who performed the activity.Current Inspection:-Operator did not purchase the proper test strips for the disinfectant being used and records were not being kept

    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • -Written procedures were not available for this facility. Please ensure written procedures are developed for: Preparation of Skin, Post-Service Care and Client Care.
    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • -There were no paper towel available at the sink in the washroom. Please ensure that liquid soap and single use towels are available at all times.
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • - Cleansing of the skin is not being done prior to a service that may involve contact with mucous membrane, or that will puncture or may potentially break skin. Ensure cleansing is done prior to waxing.
    • 14. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Non-Critical)?
      • - Porous and uncleanable equipment was not clean and in good condition at the point-of-use. Ensure porous and uncleanable equipment that does not contact mucous membrane or broken/punctured skin is only re-used if it is in good condition and steps are taken to remove visible contamination and is treated with a product suitable to reduce the number of microorganisms.*Antiseptic products (such as hydrogen peroxide, 70% alcohol or detergent/soap) can be used to treat porous/uncleanable equipment such as nail files used on artificial nails.
    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • - Equipment is not being protected from contamination during handling and storage. Equipment in designated clean areas (ex. UV unit) was visibly dirty. Ensure equipment is stored in a manner to keep it clean and free from contamination.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • - Used semi-critical and critical equipment was not being adequately cleaned and dried prior to disinfection or sterilization.(ex. tweezers, scissors, nail clippers, foot files) There was no soap for cleaning tools, the owner indicated that they are rinsed with water. Ensure equipment is: disassembled, cleaned to remove soil, and rinsed and dried prior to disinfection or sterilization.-Non-critical equipment (ex. combs, pedicure basin fans, laser goggles) were being stored in a solution that was full of hair. Ensure that equipment is cleaned prior to disinfection.

      • - Cosmetic products were not labelled with manufacturer’s instructions and ingredients. There were several unlabeled spray bottles. Please ensure only cosmetic products with a detailed label are available for use.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • - There was no dedicated reprocessing area. Staff members on-site indicated tools are cleaned at the hair sink and the owner indicated tools are washed in the staff room sink. Reprocessing must be separated from incompatible undertakings, which include sleeping, dining, food preparation, routine employee and client traffic, and storage of employee personal effects. Please address.
