- Reusable equipment is cleaned, and disinfected or sterilized as often as necessary.
- Reusable equipment must be cleaned and disinfected or sterilized between each use.
- Reusable equipment must be covered with a single-use disposable cover that shall be discarded immediately after each use if the equipment cannot be readily cleaned and sanitized between each use and is not introduced into the body or into body cavities.
- Disassemble and clean dirty instruments in the cleaning area.
- Semi-critical items instrument/equipment must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected at high level disinfection.
- All equipment and instruments are to be checked for integrity prior to use. Cracked, chipped, rusted, pitted, or otherwise degraded or damaged equipment and instruments are not to be used and are to be discarded.
- Place dirty linens in receptacle after each use/client and wash before reuse.
- Approved disinfectants are maintained at the appropriate strengths, stored properly and adhere to appropriate contact times.
- Ensure instruments/equipment are cleaned and disinfected/sterilized according to instrument classification.
- Reusable equipment is cleaned, and disinfected or sterilized as often as necessary.
