    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • 1.All bleach solutions in the facility were measured at 1000ppm.The director indicated that bleach solutions are made to last a few days.Bleach solutions must be between 100-200ppm (2 ml (1/2 teaspoon) household bleach per litre of water) and must be prepared daily. Ensure test strips are used to measure the concentration daily.2. Unlabeled bleach containers were observed in the OSC and Kinder room, and labels on bleach containers in the baby room were found to be rubbed off or illegible. Ensure all bleach containers are clearly labelled and relabel any containers with missing or illegible labels to prevent misuse. Bleach containers were labelled during inspection.

      • 1. Two cans of paint not labelled as non-toxic were in the crafts shelf in the OSC and Kinder room. The paints were removed from use. Ensure that all art and craft supplies are labeled as non-toxic.2. There were three cans of shaving cream being used for sensory play. Label indicated these were not to be used by children. These were removed from use.3.Gorilla Glue was observed on a shelf accessible to children in the OSC/Kindergarten room. Ensure that all materials and products that are not safe for children are stored out of reach and inaccessible to children immediately after use. The Gorilla glue was removed from the shelf.
    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • 1. The space under the handwashing sink in the infant room, used for storing cleaning equipment and waste receptacles, was not properly organized.Ensure this area is properly organized and maintained in a neat manner to allow for easy cleaning and prevention of pest harborage.2. The bins storage in the left toddler washroom was observed to be dirty. Ensure the bins storage is cleaned regularly.

      • Staff in the Kinder and OSC room did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of toy washing procedures. Toy washing procedures were discussed with staff and program director.The following steps must be followed for toy washing:1. Wash with detergent and warm water.2. Rinse detergent away with clean, warm water.3. Wipe, spray, or keep item submerged in a sink for 2 minutes in an approved disinfectant.4. After sanitizing step, let the surface or item air dry.5. Toys that are washed by sink method and are likely to be mouthed should have a potable water rinse.

      • 1. Large stuffed toys were observed in a crib in the infant room. Director indicated that they are used for children's comfort during nap time.2. One of the crib mattresses observed to be in an unsanitary condition, upon being lifted, several items were observed underneath, including a vinyl-covered foam pad, charts and other miscellaneous items.Ensure cribs are free from clutter such as stuffed or other toys and items that could interfere with safe infant sleep. Mattresses must remain clean, properly positioned and free of any objects beneath them.

      • *Purex container was observed with sanitizer level bleach solution was observed. Ensure container indicate its' contents. This was corrected onsite.
