- 1. Debris buildup on some tools in the UV sterilize. - Clean tools adequately before disinfection. 2. Debris buildup on an electric foot callus removal machine. A name tag was peeling off the machine and dirty. - Replace the damaged name tag. Adequately clean the machine after each use. 3. Debris buildup on some foot paddles.- Clean foot paddles thoroughly after each use.

- 1. PreEMPT CS20 disinfectant is being reused for multiple days without testing the concentration. - Change the solution daily or obtain test papers for testing the concentration. 2. PreEMPT CS20 disinfectant is being diluted with water in spray bottles and sprayed on surfaces. - PerEMPT CS20 disinfectant could be used only for soaking tools not spraying on surfaces. Follow manufacturer's instructions. 3. Foot paddles are too big to fit into the soaking container.- Obtain a larger container so the foot paddles are fully submersed in the disinfectant.

- 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
- Staff indicated they were only soaking tools in CS20 for a few minutes. Ensure tools are soaked for at least 20 minutes. Create step by step instructions for cleaning and disinfection of tools. Have all staff read procedures. Post in cleaning/disinfection area.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- 1. Tools are only disinfected for a few minutes in CS20. Follow manufactures instructions for disinfection. 2. Staff soak tools in alcohol. Alcohol has not been permitted since 2020 for use on tools. Remove alcohol from disinfection area. 3. Facility is not testing or documenting CS20 reuse. Ensure CS20 is tested daily, documented and discarded after 14 days or when it is no longer at the suitable concentration. Template provided.

- Used heel sanding disc was stuck to side of a cart that was ready to be used for new client.-Ensure used disposable equipment goes straight into garbage
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- 1) No CS20 was available onsite. Container and disinfection trays meant for CS20 had other liquid in them.-Ensure a high-level disinfectant is available during operation-Operator brought CS20 to the facility, inspector was onsite to confirm2) Staff reported using alcohol to wipe down heel sanding handpiece.-Ensure staff used a disinfectant with a DIN-Staff will use PREempt RTU poured onto a towel to clean and disinfect handpiece3) In one manicure station, drill bits were observed stored in a small cup with a clear liquid. Operator reported this is a solvent to dissolve powders used during nail service.-Ensure equipment is fully cleaned and disinfected between uses. The solvent is not a cleanser or disinfectant, so tools must still go to the back room for reprocessing between clients
