Inspection summary
Lonsdale Donair Plus has been inspected 23 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since July 19, 2019. The most recent inspection, on June 3, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
11 of 23 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Food temperature control and Protecting food from contamination.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 8 times across 7 separate inspections, most recently on June 3, 2026. For example:
All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded 8 times across 6 separate inspections, most recently on May 6, 2024. For example:
Potentially hazardous food is cooked/processed in a manner that makes it safe to eat.
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 3, 2025. For example:
Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on May 6, 2024. For example:
Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded once on August 6, 2021. For example:
The premises is free of pests.

Extremely disappointing experience. We ordered two days ago, and when we went to eat one of the sandwiches, we discovered there was absolutely no meat inside—it had literally been wrapped and served that way. We paid for a sandwich with meat and received something completely different. At this point, it honestly feels like a scam. Charging customers for something and then not providing what they paid for is completely unacceptable. I expect a full refund and would not recommend this place based on this experience.

Very clean restaurant—impressively clean overall. The vegetables were fresh and looked great, and the service was quick and efficient. I ordered the chicken donair, and it tasted very good. They grilled it to make it slightly crispy, which really elevated the flavour. The sauces were excellent, with a good variety to choose from. The staff were kind and welcoming, and you can tell this is a well-run business. Overall, a great spot and definitely worth visiting.

Had a great experience at Donair Dude on 17th Street in Lonsdale! The food was delicious, fresh, and generously portioned, and the service was excellent. A special shoutout to Parham, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. He really made the experience even better. You can tell that the management, especially Amir, cares about both the quality of the food and the customer experience. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a great donair and friendly service. I’ll definitely be coming back!
