    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) The facility was diluting poured CS20 in a container with water. Upon using a 7% AHP testing strip, the result indicated a failed test (i.e. solution was at an insufficient concentration to properly disinfect tools).This solution was immediately discarded and replenished with non-expired CS20. Concern was corrected during the inspection.REQUIREMENT: Follow all manufacturer's instructions which include 'do not dilute CS20'.2) There is no reliable means to track how long tools are soaking in CS20 solution.REQUIREMENT: Develop a system to ensure that tools are being submersed for a minimum of 20 minutes. One suggestion would be through the use of a digital stopwatch.3) The facility is using Pre-empt RTU to clean and disinfect surfaces and pedicure basins. The spray bottle that contained the disinfectant did not have information which indicated when the solution expires (this disinfectant has an expiration date).This solution and spray bottle was discarded, and a bottle of non-expired solution of Pre-empt RTU was available for use.

      • The waxing bed was damaged and repaired with duct tape.-all surfaces and equipment must be in good condition; repair and/or replace any damaged equipment.

      • There was no paper towel dispenser at the sink.

      • 1) Cuticle nippers were dirty with skin, nail, debris, etc.-clean and disinfect all reusable tools properly and effectively.

      • 1) Cans of pop were stored under the sink/plumbing.-if pop is provided to customers, store them in a safe and sanitary manner; don't store drinks under plumbing/sinks. 2) Wine glasses and coffee mugs were stored in the back area; these are not for customers (as mentioned by the staff). Do not provide customers with reusable glassware as you don't have the equipment to wash, rinse and sanitize them.
