- 30 An operator must ensure that all food in their food establishment is obtained from a source that is subject to inspection or is food that is exempted by these regulations.
- In accordance with Section 3.2.1.1 of the Nova Scotia Food Services and Food Retail Code, you must have food obtained from inspected and approved sources only. All Schedule A food preparation and storage must be from a permitted food establishment. Vendor must provide additional information and permission to use form.
- 34 An operator must ensure that a food establishment is operated so that all food and food ingredients are processed, manufactured, handled, prepared, packaged, served, sold, offered for sale or distribution free of charge, dispensed, displayed and stored in a manner that prevents contamination and adulteration.
- Vendors selling unpasteurized juice or cider must have the process evaluated by a food safety consultant and submit the documentation to the Public Health Inspector. These products must also be labelled “unpasteurized” and properly stored and refrigerated at 4°C (40°F) or colder, or frozen at -18°C (0°F). Ciders/juices that are pasteurized to the CFIA standard of a 5-log reduction of E. coli O157:H7, but are not commercially sterile, must also be refrigerated at 4°C (40°F) or colder frozen at -18°C (0°F).
- 81 No person shall establish or operate a food establishment except in accordance with this Part and the regulations.
- In accordance with Section 81 of the Health Protection Act, you must: Remove unpasteurized juices and preserve products until the vendor provides additional information, reviewed and approved by Public Health Inspector.
