    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • During the inspection, it was identified that no product labelled as a 'Disinfectant' was used to disinfect the dermabrasion tips. The operator was using a product which was an 'Aseptic Transfer Solution' from BioMERS (product has a DIN) which was added into an ultrasonic chamber to clean and 'disinfect'; however, this product does not specify a contact time and does not appear intended for this use.Operator will be adding an additional step using BioMERS 'Clinical Surface Disinfectant' which does specify a contact time.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • The operator did not have 0.9% non-bacteriostatic saline solution for reconstituting products such as Botox.REQUIREMENT: Ensure all manufacturer instructions are followed. Botox requires that 0.9% non-bacteriostatic/preservative-free saline is used.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Critical)?
      • Operator was missing User Manuals/Instruction Manuals for Plasma Pens identified onsite. The Plasma pen did not have manufacturer information on the device and the box it came with. Most plasma pens are not authorized for sale in Canada and these devices can pose health risks such as:- skin punctures with the needle tips;- excessive skin burns caused by overuse or prolonged use;- burns to the eye; or- burn complications such as scarring and infection.The likelihood and severity of side effects increase with the duration, frequency and intensity of treatment.REQUIREMENT: Discontinue the use of this Plasma pen and obtain a device with a Medical Device License (MDL) if intending on providing services with this tool.
    • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Operator did not have hyaluronidase available to reverse vascular occlusions if they were to emerge.Operator was not offering filler services at the time of this concern.REQUIREMENT: Obtain hyaluronidase prior to providing filler services.
