      • Some dirty reusable equipment were observed on the shelf in waxing room, near the clean items.Staff was directed to store the clean and dirty tools separately to avoid cross contamination.This violation was corrected during the inspection.

      • Intermediate level Disinfectant used for disinfection of pedicure bathtubs was expired.Facility manager ordered it through the supplier during the inspection and was received with-in 40 mins.This violation was corrected during the inspection.

      • It was observed that Pre-empt CS20 used for the disinfection of semi-critical equipment was expired (Feb. 2024)Test strips for testing of HLD were also expired.Test logs were not being maintained.Discussed in detail the requirement for the semi-critical equipment disinfection.Requirement for testing and log maintenance was also discussed.Staff ordered the Pre-empt CS 20 and test strips right away through the supplier.Pre-empt CS 20 and AHP7 test strips were received within an hour.Templates for logs were provided during the inspection.This violation was corrected during the inspection.**Reminder**-Please note that proper disinfection is critical for safe operations of personal service business.-Old fashioned UV/Dry heat sterilizer cannot replace High Level Disinfection required for semi-critical tools.-Follow manufacturer's instructions for dilution, re-use period, contact time and expiry date of disinfectant.-Test your solution on daily basis and maintain the logs.

    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • High level disinfectant logs were not kept in the facility.A copy of the Alberta Health Services written procedure template in vietnamise was left onsite.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Soiled waxing tools were observed stored in the waxing room.Ensure all dirty reusable equipment is taken to the processing sink to be cleaned and disinfected.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Test strips were expired and not used. Two copies of the Alberta Health services high level disinfectant logs in Vietnamese were left onsite.It was recommended that the disinfectant logs to be laminated so they can be reused. Advised to use an intermediate level disinfectant with a contact time of 3 minutes or less for use on surfaces.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • Dust accumulation in the waxing room and unclean and in disorganized condition was observed in the facility. Facility required general cleaning and decluttering.
