What these findings mean

Health authorities word their findings differently, so we group them by what they mean for the people using the facility. Higher-risk findings are the ones that could directly cause illness or injury, such as water that is not properly treated.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Inspectors check that anything that has to be kept at a set temperature, such as chilled or hot food, or equipment like sterilizers, stays in its safe range and that accurate thermometers are on hand. With food, temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning.

Recorded once on June 30, 2026. For example: Is the pool premises maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, good repair and are temperatures being properly regulated?

  • Pool and spa water qualityHigher risk

For pools, spas and splash pads, inspectors test disinfectant levels, pH and water clarity, and check safety equipment. Water that is not properly treated can spread skin, ear and stomach infections.

Recorded once on March 6, 2024. For example: Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this pool premises (Non-Critical)?

  • Food safety training and certificationLower risk

Many jurisdictions require trained pool operators and certified lifeguards. These findings mean required training, certification or staffing records were missing at the time of inspection.

Recorded once on June 30, 2026. For example: Does the pool premises have adequate written policies, plans and posted rules and safety information to ensure that the pool is operating in a safe manner?
