      • Facility-specific written procedures were completed during the inspection.
    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • The alcohol based hand rub (ABHR) located in the waxing room was expired. Operator agreed to remove the expired AHBR from the facility.
    • 14. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. There was no sharpener for the eyebrow pencils in the waxing room. Obtain a sharpener and/or remove the eyebrow pencils from the facility.2. The combined eyelash comb + brush located in the waxing room was not in good condition at the point of use. The comb was partially broken and the brush was visibly soiled. Discard.

      • Porous/uncleanable brushes used for manicure services was not being properly cleansed between client uses. Advised operator to use soap, 70% isopropyl alcohol (suitable for skin) and/or hydrogen peroxide.

      • Containers used to store cosmetic products related to waxing services were visibly dirty. Clean containers as needed.

      • Waxing pot was not covered and protected from contamination when not in use. Waxing pot was covered at the time of inspection.

      • 1. Barbicide jars were soiled and/or tools were partially submerged. Staff must wash and dry their tools prior to fully immersing in barbicide for 10 minutes and rinse after. Barbicide must be made fresh daily according to label instructions.2. The disinfectant jar for waxing tweezers was partially submerged in an unknown blue-coloured liquid, assumed to potentially be barbicide. Waxing tweezers are required to be fully immersed in a low-level disinfectant. Requested the identity of blue-coloured liquid and the requirement to fully immerse tools in the disinfectant according to disinfectant label instructions.
