    • Did operator properly disinfect equipment and surfaces?
      • Disinfect reusable equipment after use on a client to prevent disease transmission.
      • Disinfect reusable equipment with appropriate disinfectant required for the equipment.
      • Fully immerse reusable equipment in the disinfectant.
      • Do not spray or wipe equipment and surfaces with 70-90% alcohol. Alcohol evaporates quickly and will not reach the 10 minute contact time. Equipment must be fully immersed in the alcohol.
      • High-level disinfect equipment such as grater-style foot files, comedone extractor with loops on both ends, and diamond microdermabrasion tips.
      • High-level disinfect equipment that holds, manipulates or contacts sterile items (e.g., needle probe holder, microblading handle, microneedle roller handle, micropigmentation reusable needle sleeve and front casing).
    • Did operator properly use and maintain cleaning and disinfecting products?
      • Do not use expired disinfectants.
      • Provide a disinfecting container with a lid or cover that is capable of fully immersing equipment in the disinfectant.
      • Dry equipment prior to disinfection to prevent diluting the disinfectant.
      • Rinse the disinfected equipment where manufacturer's instructions require or when bleach (sodium hypochlorite) is used.
      • Prepare a new bleach and water solution daily.
      • Ensure prepared disinfectant solutions are not topped up with fresh solution (i.e., do not add new solution to the current solution). Containers must be emptied, cleaned, disinfected, rinsed, and dried before refilling.
      • Follow manufacturer's instructions for use of cleaning and disinfecting product(s), where available.
      • Follow manufacturer's instructions for contact times of disinfectant product(s), where available.
      • Ensure that disinfectants used in a personal service setting are accompanied by a drug identification number (DIN), natural product number (NPN) or Medical Devices Active Licence Listing (MDALL) assigned by Health Canada (exception is bleach/sodium hypochlorite); and used as per the manufacturer’s instructions, where available.
