      • Reprocessed semi-critical tools were being stored in unclean containers.Clean and disinfect all storage containers regularly. Ensure reprocessed tools are stored only in clean, sanitary containers to prevent contamination.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • A pedicure magnetic jet head contained hair and debris, indicating inadequate cleaning prior to disinfection.Thoroughly disassemble, scrub and clean the pedicure basin and all jet components, removing hair and debris. Visually inspect all parts to confirm they are clean before disinfecting and reassembling.

      • 1. The Flexclean disinfectant product was expired as of September 2023.Discard all expired disinfectant products. Ensure that disinfectants are used within their expiry dates.2. The 'Hospital Disinfectant' did not contain a Drug Identification Number (DIN) or expiry date. Discard this product. Ensure that all disinfectants used have a Drug Identification Number.

      • 1. Alcohol was being used to disinfect non-critical surfaces, including manicure counters and the service bed in the spa room.Alcohol is not an approved form of disinfectant for any surface. Use an approved disinfectant with a valid Drug Identification Number (DIN). Non-critical surfaces must be disinfected using, at minimum, a low-level disinfectant.2. The operator reported that tools were submerged in CS20 disinfectant for 15 minutes, which does not meet the required contact time.Follow all manufacturer instructions for disinfectant products. CS20 requires a minimum submersion time of 20 minutes to achieve effective high-level disinfection.

      • The sharps container underneath the sink was overfilled.Discard the overfilled sharps container. Ensure sharps containers are monitored and replaced regularly to prevent overfilling.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • The service bed was visibly dirty, particularly at the head piece. Debris and tape residue were observed.Remove all duct tape from the service bed. Thoroughly clean and disinfect the bed. Ensure the bed is stripped of linens and properly disinfected between each client use.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • The service bed in the waxing room was torn in multiple areas, creating surfaces that are difficult to clean and sanitize.Repair or replace the service bed. Ensure all equipment and surfaces are smooth, intact, and maintained in good condition to allow effective cleaning and disinfection.

      • Written procedures for skin preparation for cleansing skin and decontamination of sink between different users/purposes are not available for review. Please ensure the written procedures for the above are available.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • Build up of debris on wax pots and in fans on nail desks. Ensure these areas are cleaned.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • The faucets on the pedicure tubs have duct tape on them. Tape is not smooth or easily cleanable. Remove. If the faucets are in disrepair- repair faucets.
