789 Tamarack Way NW - Swimming Pool

789 Tamarack Way NW Edmonton AB T6T 0N3 · Aquatic Facility

Inspection summary

789 Tamarack Way NW - Swimming Pool has been inspected 23 times by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health) since May 29, 2024. The most recent inspection, on October 6, 2026, found no infractions.

5 of 23 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 14 inspections with 25 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Pool and spa water quality, Chemicals and toxic substances and Food temperature control.

The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their findings differently, so we group them by what they mean for the people using the facility. Higher-risk findings are the ones that could directly cause illness or injury, such as water that is not properly treated.

  • Pool and spa water qualityHigher risk

For pools, spas and splash pads, inspectors test disinfectant levels, pH and water clarity, and check safety equipment. Water that is not properly treated can spread skin, ear and stomach infections.

Recorded 33 times across 18 separate inspections, most recently on September 25, 2026. For example: Is the bacteriological quality of the water in this pool satisfactory (Non-Critical)?

  • Chemicals and toxic substancesHigher risk

Pool chemicals such as chlorine and acid must be labelled, stored apart from each other and handled safely. Mixing them by mistake can release toxic gas, so storage and handling problems are treated seriously.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 2, 2026. For example: Is the chemical quality of the water in this pool satisfactory (Critical)?

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Inspectors check that anything that has to be kept at a set temperature, such as chilled or hot food, or equipment like sterilizers, stays in its safe range and that accurate thermometers are on hand. With food, temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 4, 2024. For example: Is the pool maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, good repair and are temperatures being properly regulated?

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, water-test logs, posted bather rules and emergency procedures. Daily test logs are how operators show the water was checked and treated between inspections.

Recorded once on June 4, 2024. For example: Are proper testing, monitoring, and other records being properly maintained?

    • 07. Are the filtration, circulation and disinfection systems used to maintain water quality working properly (Non-Critical)?
      • Flow through the skimmers was not adequate to ensure proper skimming action was noted. Investigate is the floating weirs require replacement or pump flow adjustment is needed to provide adequate flow for proper skimming.
    • 14. Is the pool maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, good repair and are temperatures being properly regulated?
      • Large debris had blown into the pool basin. Remove and vacuum the basin to remove debris and dirt.
    • 16. Are proper testing, monitoring, and other records being properly maintained?
      • Testing of routine chemical parameters was noted along with dates so results could be tracked. Ensure that the salt concentration is being monitored as the proper concentration range is required for the salt chlorine generator to work correctly. Also make sure servicing such as back washing is documented on the records.

    • 04. Is the chemical quality of the water in this pool satisfactory (Critical)?
      • Free chlorine was measured at 0 ppm in the pool. Observed the pool was slightly cloudy at time of inspection. Service the salt chlorine system to ensure a consistent free chlorine of at least 1 can be maintained at all times.
    • 07. Are the filtration, circulation and disinfection systems used to maintain water quality working properly (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Alarm light was illuminated on the controller indicating "very low salt" and a low ORP (160 mV). Investigate and make adjustments as required to ensure chlorine generation system in good working order.2. The flow rate of the system was 60 GPM. The system must have a flow rate of at least 74 GPM. Check circulation system to ensure the flow rate is within design specifications (80 GPM).3. Pool basin was overfilled and no skimming action was observed. Adjust the water level in the pool and ensure there is proper suction to ensure adequate skimming of the pool water.
