    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Pedicure footbaths were being disinfected using a low-level disinfectant. Operators were observed spraying the product onto footbath surfaces and immediately wiping it off, without allowing the required minimum 10-minute wet contact time as per manufacturer’s instructions.Operator was instructed to clean and disinfect all footbaths in the facility using the proper contact time and follow the low-level disinfectant manufacturer’s instructions for use.

      • Operator was observed using the same nail clippers on two separate clients without cleaning and disinfecting between clients. Operator was instructed to immediately cease reuse of any semi-critical instruments without cleaning and disinfecting between clients.

      • The facility did not have an approved high-level disinfectant available at the time of inspection. Semi-critical instruments, including nail clippers and nippers, were observed soaking in low level disinfectant. Operator was instructed to obtain a high-level disinfectant for disinfection of semi-critical instruments. Should the operator wish to reuse the disinfectant beyond a single usage, appropriate test strips and daily records of testing are required.

      • Several bottles and containers were observed to be unlabelled in the facility. The operator was instructed to ensure that all bottles and containers are Cleary labelled to allow for accurate identification of contents and to prevent misuse.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • A leak was observed in the plumbing line supplying water to pedicure station #1. At the time of inspection, the pedicure station was not in use. The operator was advised to have the plumbing issue repaired by qualified maintenance personnel to prevent potential water damage, sanitation concerns, and future use until repairs are completed.
