Inspection summary
Advance Hair and Spa has been inspected 3 times by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health) since November 27, 2024. The most recent inspection, on October 16, 2026, found no infractions.
2 of 3 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 5 infractions recorded. All recorded findings relate to upkeep, equipment or paperwork rather than direct infection-control risks to clients.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their findings differently, so we group them by what they mean for clients. In personal service settings like salons, spas and tattoo studios, higher-risk findings are the ones that could spread infection from one client to the next, through broken skin, blood or instruments that were not properly cleaned and sterilized.
Equipment and utensilsLower risk
Instruments, chairs, tables and footbaths must be made of materials that can be cleaned, kept in good repair and stored so they stay clean. Single-use items such as nail files, buffers, razors and needles must be thrown away after each client.
Recorded 2 times on September 18, 2026. For example:
Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, client records, sterilization logs and required signage. Client records matter because they let health officials contact people if an infection is linked to the business.
Recorded once on September 18, 2026. For example:
Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
The premises needs a working hand sink, a separate sink for cleaning instruments where required, cleanable surfaces, and good lighting and ventilation. Upkeep problems are usually lower risk on their own, but they make thorough cleaning harder.
Recorded once on September 18, 2026. For example:
Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
Other findingsLower risk
Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.
Recorded once on September 18, 2026. For example:
Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?

The absence of labels increases the risk of chemical misidentification, improper use and accidental application of the wrong product on clients, which may result in adverse health effects.Ensure that all chemical containers and spray bottles are clearly labeled with their contents at all times. Labels must be legible and maintained on all bottles to reduce the risk of misuse, facilitate safe handling and ensure products are used as intended.
