- (1) CDI - There were no paper towels or single use hand towels for the washroom hand sink. The operator put a roll of paper towels in the washroom. Ensure a proper dispenser is used for the paper towels.(2) The hand sanitizer had an expiration date of 09/23.* Ensure staff are performing hand hygiene (i.e. washing hands with soap/water) when required. Hand hygiene must be performed by the personal services worker before and after every personal service, before putting on gloves that will be worn while providing a personal service, following the removal of gloves that are worn while providing a personal service, and after reprocessing.

- (1) There was hair on some of the combs in the workstation. Ensure all tools are stored in the workstation are clean or have a designated/labelled container for dirty tools.(2) Some of the larger combs were not being properly disinfected since there was no container big enough to immerse them in the Barbicide solution.(3) The proper steps were not being followed for the use of Barbicide as a disinfectant. Tools were not being washed and air dried before being placed inside the Barbicide solution. * Ensure Barbicide solution is made fresh daily according to label instructions. Tools must be washed with soap and water, rinsed and air dried prior to being disinfected for 10 minutes in the Barbicide solution. Rinse tools after immersion in Barbicide prior to use on client.(4) There was no proper disinfectant available for the clippers.

Ensure that business-specific written procedures are established that describe steps for: (a) Hand hygiene; (b) Transportation that ensures the separation of clean from contaminated supplies and equipment; (c) Handling of single-use, porous, and uncleanable equipment; (d) Reprocessing of reusable equipment; (e) Cleaning and disinfection of client service areas; and (f) Storage at a base of operations.
