    • 05. Do food handlers refrain from handling food while ill and have acceptable attire and hygiene?
      • One foodhandler had long artificial nails. Are to have short nails. Contamination can't be easily removed from under long nails and when grabbing the gloves to put them on, will contaminate the outside of the gloves.
    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • There are fridges and freezer outside the back door for food storage in a partial plywood enclosure. These are to be in enclosed unit with smooth, easily cleanable, waterproof walls and floor. Was in progress at time of inspection.

    • 05. Do food handlers refrain from handling food while ill and have acceptable attire and hygiene?
      • Foodhandlers in the front area had long artificial nails, nailpolish, rings and bracelets. Are to have short nails, and no rings. Preferably remove nailpolish and bracelets, otherwise cover with a glove when handling food (scooping ice cream, etc.).Contamination can't be easily removed from under long nails and when grabbing the gloves to put them on, will contaminate the outside of the gloves. Rings inhibit proper handwashing and rings and bracelets, nailpolish can contaminate food if pieces break/chip off.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • The back door is being left open which can allow for entry by mice, flies, etc. Keep back door shut or install a tight-fitting screen door that covers the whole opening.
    • 18. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this food facility (Non-Critical)?
      • The individual hand towels at sink in front area (used to dry hands after handwashing) are being stored in a cupboard under the sink. The towels need to be stored next to the sink (in a manner that does not contaminate them) so they are easily accessible.

    • 05. Do food handlers refrain from handling food while ill and have acceptable attire and hygiene?
      • One of the foodhandlers in the front area had nailpolish and a bracelet. Remove nailpolish and bracelet or cover with a glove when handling food (scooping ice cream, etc.).
    • 07. Do food handlers ensure that food is protected from contamination (unless noted elsewhere)(Critical)?
      • Shell eggs were being stored above cooked and/or ready-to-eat items (e.g. tomatoes) in the walk-in-cooler. Store eggs on bottom shelf.
    • 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
      • Some chicken was being left to thaw in water out at room temperature. To be thawed under cold running water or in cooler. Corrected during inspection; was put into cooler.

      • The back door is being left open which can allow for entry by mice, flies, etc. Keep back door shut or install a tight-fitting screen door.

      • There are fridges and freezer outside the back door for food storage in a partial plywood enclosure. These are to be in enclosed unit with smooth, easily cleanable, waterproof walls and floor.There is string curtain between the front and back kitchen. This is not easily cleanable. Remove or replace with something that is easily cleanable and waterproof.
    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • Cleanliness is generally good, there is just some areas on the floor around the baseboard where there is a build-up of dirt. Please clean this area.
