    • 12. Are the general safety devices and physical conditions in this pool providing a safe environment (Critical)?
      • The whirlpools chemistry was found to be outside the appropriate operating range. The free available chlorine levels measured above acceptable levels. The maintenance manager found FAC levels to be 14.5 mg/L earlier in the day. The maintenance manager was informed that this will need to be rectified. Ecolab has been arranged for today to service the chlorine distribution system. A follow-up assessment will be required to re-measure the chemical levels.

      • Combine Chlorine 1.45Total Alkalinity 141Elevated combined chlorine levels appear to be due to the insufficient water cascading. A lack of cascading is possibly related to the missing floating weir. Please install a floating weir to ensure proper circulation and help lowering combine chlorine levels.
    • 07. Are the filtration, circulation and disinfection systems used to maintain water quality working properly (Non-Critical)?
      • The skimmer near the pool was missing the floating weir. Please ensure replacement of the floating weir or installing a basket weir. The floating weir is an important part of disinfecting a whirlpool. This part will draw in the top layer of water, where the contamination will commonly collect due to bathers, and will assist in disinfecting the water.
    • 12. Are the general safety devices and physical conditions in this pool providing a safe environment (Critical)?
      • Secondary entrapment (SVRS) was not operational during the inspection. When asked to demonstrate the testing procedure for the pressure release system, the maintenance manager was unable to do so. A discussion with the maintenance manager, was held regarding the need to repair the SVRS system promptly. A follow- up inspection will be conducted next week to confirm that the system is functioning properly. In the interim, the main drains have been shut off, and the skimmers will serve as the primary means of circulation. If the water chemistry is negatively affected by this change, the pool must be closed until the SVRS system has been repaired and the inspector has completed the follow up assessment.
    • 17. Does the pool have adequate written policies, plans and posted rules and safety information to ensure that the pool is operating in a safe manner?
      • A new anti-entrapment plan is required due to the recent installation of updated filer covers at the pool. To maintain compliance with regulations, a revised anti- entrapment plan must be created. The maintenance manager has been information that this plan must be completed in one week.
