      • (1) The operator completed the Written Procedure for Accidental Skin Cuts or Punctures at the time ofinspection.* Ensure written procedure is kept on site, and the staff are aware of where it is stored.* Ensure the written procedure is presented to a PHI upon request.
    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • (1) The alcohol hand sanitizer had expired in 2023.* Hand soap and running hot/cold water was available in the washroom and back room sinks. * Ensure staff are performing hand hygiene (i.e. washing hands with soap/water) when required. Handhygiene must be performed by the personal services worker before and after every personal service, before putting on gloves that will be worn while providing a personal service, following the removal of gloves thatare worn while providing a personal service, and after reprocessing.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • (1) The proper steps were not being followed for cleaning and disinfecting tools. Tools were not being washed and dried before immersing them in the Barbicide solution. Some tools were being placed inside the Barbicide right after being used. * Discussed the proper steps. * Recommend not keeping the Barbicide solution at the workstation but instead to keep it near the cleaning sink.* Ensure Barbicide solution is made fresh daily according to label instructions. Tools must be washed with soap and water, rinsed and dried prior to being disinfected for 10 minutes in the Barbicide solution. Rinse tools after immersion in Barbicide prior to use on client.
