    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • 1. No hand soap for sink in the waxing room.- Please ensure hand soap is available.2. Papertowel was stored in an unsanitary manner (Next to sink area without a holder/dispenser) in the waxing room. - Please acquire a paper towel holder or dispenser and ensure paper towel is stored in a sanitary manner.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Record keeping for testing high level disinfectant was not being performed. - Operator will be sent a copy of the high level disinfectant log and was instructed during the inspection on how and when to record results.- Operator did acquire new test strips during the inspection. 2. Disinfecting procedures were not being done adequately for reusable semi-critical tools, high touch point work surfaces, or pedicure foot bath basin.- Ensure all staff are trained in disinfecting procedures and are familiar with correct use of CS20 and Preempt RTU. 3. Newly acquired Preempt RTU was poured into a different chemical solutions bottle. - Acquire a clean spray bottle and ensure it is labelled with chemical name and expiry dates.Record log and disinfecting procedures will be reviewed during the next follow up inspection.

      • 1. No high level disinfectant was available for reprocessing reusable semi-critical tools.- Ensure high level disinfectant is readily available and not expired.2. No low or intermediate level disinfectant available for general work surfaces or pedicure foot bath basins. Expired disinfectant Purexall (Expiry: 2023) and Preempt RTU (Expiry: 2024) was provided.- Ensure at least a low level disinfectant is readily available and not expired.Operator was instructed to temporarily close the facility and to go acquire CS20 and Preempt RTU for adequate disinfecting procedures. Operator returned one hour later with correct products and was provided thorough details on how to reprocess reusable tools and disinfect surfaces in-between clients. All reusable tools was collected and reprocessed during the inspection.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • Waxing service bed has exposed foam placed on top and lined with a fabric cover. Service bed also has visible rips and tears along the edges of the bed.- Discussed with operator to either repair the bed and remove the foam, or cover the foam with a cleanable material to ensure the waxing service bed is smooth, non-absorbent, and easily cleanable.
