- 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
- The required written procedure as it applies to services provided by the facility was not observed. AHS written procedure for skin cleansing was provided by the Public Health Inspector and adopted by the facility staff during inspection.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- Some tweezers at the waxing station were observed inside a jar of barbicide disinfectant and not completely immersed. The staff present stated that the tweezers are used to pluck out hairs during eyebrow services. Semi critical tools should be disinfected with a high-level disinfectant (barbicide cannot be used). Use the high-level disinfectant (Preempt HLD5) at the facility to disinfect semi-critical tools and ensure the tools are completely immersed. If poured high-level disinfectant will be reused, appropriate test strips must be obtained and the solution tested each day re-used. Testing records should also be maintained and the poured solution discarded according to the manufacturers instructions or when testing fails.
