    • 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
      • Facility had not submitted the Personal Service Notification to the Alberta Health Services.It is required by all the personal services businesses to notify the regional health authority about the presence of business, facilities offered and relevant information.PSN can be submitted online.Link to submit PSN would be provided with this e-mail.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Pre-empt CS20 was being used as High Level Disinfectant.However, the Pre-empt CS 20 was expired.No active equipment disinfection was observed.Brushes for cleaning and tools immersion container was present.Staff was not aware of the contact period of HLD (HLD was discarded on daily basis).Discussed in detail the requirement for the disinfection of semi-critical tools with staff.1)Keep the dirty tools separate from clean tools and bring them to reprocessing area for cleaning and disinfection.2)Clean the tools with soap and water.3)Fully immerse the tools in disinfectant for at least 20 mins, or as recommended by the manufacturer.4)Rinse and air dry the tools afterwards.Old-style heat/UV sterilizer cannot replace the High Level Disinfectant for the semi-critical tools.Staff agreed that no pedicure service or service involving use of semi-critical would be offered to clients, until the availability of HLD.

      • The pedicure basin was disinfected using Pre-empt RTU, however Pre-empt RTU was expired at the time of inspection.Staff confirmed that RTU would be obtained, meanwhile Low- Level Disinfectant available in the facility would be used.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • The wooden spatula used to dispense the paraffin wax were dirty and stored inside the wax, increasing the risk of contamination.The staff removed the dirty spatulas and discarded them.Make sure that cosmetic products are handled and stored properly.
