What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded 3 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 2, 2026. For example: Inadequate Insect / Rodent Control

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 2, 2026. For example: Critical Food Not Protected From Contamination - Micro

  • Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk

Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 2, 2026. For example: Improper Construction / Maintenance of Establishment

  • Other findingsLower risk

Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 2, 2026. For example: Operations and Maintenance/Other

      • Repeat Observation: Raw whole-shelled eggs were stored above ready-to-eat foods in the glass door fridge in the kitchen. Kitchen staff were directed to and adjusted the storage practice such that the ready-to-eat foods are protected from contamination.

    • Inadequate Insect / Rodent Control
      • A new door sweep was installed onto the screen door. However, the sweep does not sit flush to the ground when the door is closed and there continues to be a potential pest entry point.

    • Improper Construction / Maintenance of Establishment
      • The kitchen is not equipped with ventilation equipment that is adequate to prevent the accumulation of water vapour when the high-temperature dishwasher and cook units are in operation. • Continue to reorganize this space such that food and food containers are stored separately from other equipment for the premises. Comments A follow-up inspection was conducted alongside a Dietary Aide. Some of the maintenance supplies have been reorganized to be stored away from food storage areas. The Executive Director has provided a verbal implementation plan to address the ventilation concerns noted in the kitchen.
