- 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
- 1. Observed a wet, used cleaning cloth mounted on a countertop. Corrected during inspection. PHI directed staff onsite to remove the cleaning cloth from the countertop, clean and sanitize the affected area.Action Required:Ensure wet, used cleaning cloths are stored in approved sanitizer solutions when not in use to prevent cross contamination of food contact surfaces.Resources:AHS guidelines for the use of wiping cloths-https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/assets/wf/eph/wf-eh-guidelines-wiping-cloths.pdf2. QUATs sanitizer was 400ppm and higher than the approved concentration of 200ppm. - QUAT test strips in the cafe had expired. Corrected during inspection. Corporate representative discarded expired test strips and replaced them with valid ones expiring August 15, 2027.Action Required:Ensure chemical test strips have color/concentration reference charts, are not water damaged or expired to ensure accurate verification of the concentration of your approved sanitizers.
- 13. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) accessible to food handlers, located in suitable areas, and stocked with appropriate hand washing supplies?
- 1. Hand sink basin was obstructed by a tumbler. Corrected during inspection. Tumble removed from hand sink basin.Action Required:Do not store any items in hand sinks basins or around the hand sink to ensure easy accessibility of the hand sink to promote handwashing.2. Hand sink was fully equipped with hot and cold potable running water and fully stocked with single -use, disposable paper towel and easy to dispense, liquid soap.
