    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) The recirculating style of footbath in use for pedicures at this facility did not appear to be adequately disinfected after use based on the described procedure, which only have the surface of the basin disinfected adequately. Footbaths with internal piping must be disinfected in a manner that allows for contact of the interior piping with disinfectant for a sufficient contact time. Diluted bleach is not considered a suitable disinfectant under current legislation. Provide a procedure for disinfecting footbaths that includes use of a suitable disinfectant on internal piping for a sufficient contact time, per the manufacturer recommended instructions. Alternatively, implement the use of basin liners to minimize the risk of contamination to internal piping. 2) One of the containers used for disinfecting hairdressing tools contained an unknown liquid which could not be identified at the time of inspection. Verify the identity of this liquid and ensure it is a suitable disinfectant. Recommend using a single disinfectant across all hairdressing procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in hairdressing.
