      • The bleach water disinfectant for the diapering station in the toddler area measured at 0 ppm.**Ensure bleach water disinfectant is maintained at 100 ppm. Approved disinfectant include the bleach water solution at 100 ppm OR Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide Solution. Please do not use Lysol wipes for disinfecting diapering station.***CORRECTED DURING THE INSPECTION. BLEACH WATER WAS USED AND CONCENTRATION MEASURED AT 100 PPM.

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Crochet/knitting needles were stored in the common open space in an accessible area. **Store crochet/knitting needles in a location inaccessible to children. 2. A few items such as beads, scissors and metal bars were observed in accessible locations in the black storage cabinets by the laundry and in the 4-5 years old room. **Reorganize cabinets or install child proof safety locks on the cabinets.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • No bleach water sanitizer available in the diapering station located in the washroom. **Obtain bleach water sanitizer and store in a location inaccessible to children.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • First aid kit located by the microwave were missing alcohol swabs. **Obtain alcohol swabs.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Cleaning product was stored in a bottle labelled vinegar. **Ensure bottles of chemicals are labelled correctly.

      • 1. Entrapment hazards were identified along the sides of the climbing net. 2. A number of bolts on the structure failed the protrusion test. 3. The climbing rope was not anchored. 4. The interlocking mats did not extend to 1.8 metres at all sides. 5. The manufacturer instruction for use indicated that structure is not for public use- for private use only, only for domestic use.****INDOOR PLAY STRUCTURE DOES NOT MEET AHS REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED TO BE UNINSTALLED.

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • Various equipment such as scissors, bleach water disinfectant, ziplock bags, marbles, tin foil boxes were stored in a manner that were accessible to children in the toddler area and the common area that is used by the preschoolers for lunch. **Ensure these items are stored in a location where children cannot access them. ***CORRECTED DURING THE INSPECTION.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • The bleach water disinfectant for the toddler diapering station did not have bleach concentration detected. **Ensure the bleach water disinfectant is maintained at a concentration of 100 ppm. Mix 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of household unscented bleach to 1 litre of water. ***CORRECTED DURING THE INSPECTION.

      • Missing tweezers and CPR barrier mask in the preschool and BASC program first aid kits in the backpacks. **Obtain tweezers and CPR barrier masks.

    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • The sink directly adjacent to the compartment sink to be used for handwashing in the toddler diapering area did not have available handwashing supplies (liquid soap and paper towel in suitable dispensers). Ensure handwashing supplies are accessible near the sink to be used for diapering.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • Staff indicated that a three-compartment method was being used for toy washing. One of these sinks must be a dedicated handwashing sink for the adjacent diapering area, which cannot be used for toy washing due to contamination concerns. The procedure for toy washing and disinfection onsite will be modified to a two-compartment method, leaving the third compartment free for use as a dedicated diapering handwashing sink.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • Parent-provided napping bedding was not stored seperately for each child. Staff indicated that separate storage containers/bags were on order.

    • 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
      • The washrooms intended for use by children are traditional bathroom stalls, which are only lockable from the inside. For safety reasons, washroom doors in childcare facilities must be openable from the outside. Modify some of the washroom stalls to ensure they can be opened from the outside and cannot be locked from the inside. Ensure that accessibility options, such as step stools and training seats, are available in washrooms intended for younger children. *Alternate latches are on order. Advise once installation complete. Note that modification of stalls intended for school-aged children would be unnecessary.

      • Several choking hazards were identified in an area intended for use by children under the age of 3. Unsuitable toys were moved during inspection. Advise keeping toys or other items with small parts stored out of reach of children under 3 to minimize access to choking hazards.
    • 12. Is refuse being managed in a suitable manner?
      • The secondary diapering area, located in an enclosed washroom, did not have an enclosed garbage can for the storage of diapering waste. Acquire a garbage container with an enclosing lid for this area.
    • 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
      • The washrooms intended for use by children are traditional bathroom stalls, which are only lockable from the inside.
