      • -Operator was re-using metal lancets. This is a sharp and cannot be used more than once. Discussed only using metal loop tool for extractions.

      • No written procedures were available during the inspection.
    • 06. Do operators and personal services workers comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and do they have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner?
      • The staff members did not understand the importance of cleaning and disinfecting tools and surfaces. They lacked knowledge to classify equipment into critical, semi-critical and non-critical. The staff members were using alcohol to clean the environmental surfaces. They were not cleaning and disinfecting pedicure tubs after use.
    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • -Clean and soiled equipment were not stored separately.-Soiled nail clippers and cuticle clippers were stored in the client service area.-Rusted nail clippers were in use.The operator was instructed to keep soiled and clean equipment separately and to discard any rusted tools.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • -The facility was providing services that required the use of semi-critical equipment, and no high-level disinfectant was available during the inspection.-No other disinfectant was available during the inspection.-No records for high-level disinfectant were available.The operator was asked to stop the services until they acquire a high-level disinfectant and any other low/intermediate level disinfectant to clean environmental surfaces.The operator acquired Pre-empt CS20 with test strips and Pre-empt RTU within 30min. The staff was educated on how to use the high-level disinfectant and intermediate-level disinfectant following manufacturer's instructions. The services were resumed.
    • 31. Are sinks accessible and used appropriately for the personal services provided?
      • The reprocessing sink was also being used for handwashing.The operator was instructed to use the reprocessing sink only for cleaning and disinfecting tools. Handwashing to be performed in a designated handwashing sink.
