- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- (1) There was no disinfectant available for use on the clippers.(3) The proper steps were not being followed for cleaning and disinfecting tools. Tools were not being washed and dried before immersing them in the Barbicide solution. Discussed the proper steps and the set-up of a proper cleaning area/zone.* Ensure Barbicide solution is made fresh daily according to label instructions. Tools must be washed with soap and water, rinsed and dried prior to being disinfected for 10 minutes in the Barbicide solution. Rinse tools after immersion in Barbicide prior to use on client.* Recommend having labeled bins for storing dirty tools until they can be washed and disinfected.

- (1) There was a reusable cloth hand towel in the client washroom. Ensure there are no reusable cloth hand towels in the client washroom. Paper towels were available at the time of inspection.

- (1) CDI: A PSN (personal services notification) had not been submitted. The operator submitted a PSN during the inspection.
- 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
- (1) CDI: There was no written procedure available. The operator completed the Written Procedure for Accidental Skin Cuts or Punctures during the inspection.* Ensure written procedure is kept on site, and the staff are aware of where it is stored.* Ensure the written procedure is presented to a PHI upon request.
