Inspection summary

Heartland Restaurant has been inspected 2 times by Interior Health Authority since January 9, 2026. The most recent inspection, on August 10, 2026, recorded 4 infractions.

None of the 2 inspections on record were free of infractions. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 5 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Food temperature control, Protecting food from contamination and Cleaning and sanitizing.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded once on August 10, 2026. For example: 2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded once on August 10, 2026. For example: 7 Are foods protected from contamination?

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on January 9, 2026. For example: 3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded 2 times on August 10, 2026. For example: 3 Are written food handling procedures (Food Safety Plan) current and available on site?

Have told everyone I’m with about how good it is and will continue to hoot and hollar to my friends about it. The chicken slovaki pita is hands down unbelievable. Heartland Restaurant surprised us! In our travels through Cache Creek we stopped in for dinner and were so pleased with the food at this restaurant! Everything was freshly made and delicious. I had the chicken pita wrap with a greek salad. The pita was freshly baked and warm, the chicken and seasonings were perfect. The greek salad was so fresh and delightful. My husband had the beef kabob and that was outstanding! We were so pleased with the meal we knew we had to try the baklava and we were not disappointed. The service was warm, friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to stop here again!

We stopped in here for a late dinner. This place was a pleasant surprise! The greek salad was delish, and the calamari, so good! Hi end restaurants can't do calamari this good! We saw some steaks go by that were so big, they hung off the side of the plate! We'll go back! The chef here is good!!!

My wife and I went there for dinner this evening. The calamari was crisp and lightly fried, tzatiki was home made and flavorful. Ordered the beef souvlaki w/ Greek salad and was definitely not disappointed. Check it out if you're driving through cache creek.

The "garlic bread" was literally toasted grocery store bought white bread, buttered then haphazardly sprinkled with a miniscule amount of diced garlic. The alfredo was tasteless and soupy. You get better alfredo from a sidekicks packet. The shrimp in the alfredo were cooked somewhat unevenly. The outdoor eating area on the deck was spongy and rotten through in places, with uncomfortable chairs that slope towards the back, making it so you have to perch on the edge of your chair with it digging into your legs while eating. For 3 people, 2 fettucine alfredos and one ribeye, only water for drinks, the bill was over $100, which is absurdly high for the lack of quality.
