Inspection summary

Heaven Sushi Sake Bar has been inspected 4 times by Interior Health Authority since November 4, 2024. The most recent inspection, on April 2, 2026, recorded 3 infractions.

None of the 4 inspections on record were free of infractions. In the past 12 months there were 3 inspections with 10 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Handwashing and staff hygiene and Cleaning and sanitizing.

Recent inspections have recorded fewer infractions than earlier ones, so the record is improving.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on April 2, 2026. For example: 5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on April 2, 2026. For example: 7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on November 5, 2025. For example: 3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded 4 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on April 2, 2026. For example: 3 Are written food handling procedures (Food Safety Plan) current and available on site?

  • Other findingsLower risk

Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on November 5, 2025. For example: 1 Does the facility have proper monitoring supplies?

First off, I have to start by saying this is one of the best spots in kamloops for sushi and sake. My family and I have been going here since they opened. The atmosphere is openly beautiful and welcoming. Plenty of seating, even when it’s busy. They even have outside seating in the warmer months. Never an issue with waiting to order. Someone’s always there to help answer any questions you may have with the menu. Top ups on drinks and table checks are regular. Nothing but fresh consistently good food every single time. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Some of our favorites are the tuna oshi, spicy tuna on crispy rice, wagu gyoza, donburi, spicy edamame, calamari, Brussel spouts, Their burger is also out of this world. My brother in law has been fortunate enough to travel throughout Japan to enjoy some of the top spots, he said Heaven is better !!! Yes I’m saying that. Nothing disappoints. Each and every person there who comes to help serve us our beautiful meals at Heaven is among the kindness most genuine people we’ve ever met. More pictures to come.

Absolutely delicious! I rarely eat sushi, but I genuinely enjoyed it here. The flavours were authentic, the portions were generous, and every dish tasted fresh and expertly prepared. Our server, Tia, was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. The service was exceptional from start to finish. We’ll definitely be returning again and again!

We were in Kamloops from Edmonton and whenever we come to BC we try to get vegetarian sushi as the options in Alberta are limited. Sushi Heaven did not disappoint! We tried the lulu mango roll, crazy vegetable roll, purple rain, and green roll. The purple rain was a standout winner- it had a delicious, unique smoky flavour. The kids were happy eating off the (cutely named) kids menu, and staff was great with the kids, bringing them kid chopsticks and colouring paper. We will definitely be back on our next trip through.

So amazing!!!! We drove by a couple times, was told it’s so good- it is! And if you don’t like sushi- still options. Great service, the most incredible food- will definitely come back here! Got 6 different rolls, kids pizza, fries, pork gyoza, and brussel sprouts!

I travel to Kamloops annually for work and Heaven has always been my go-to for all-around fantastic dining experience. Bento E is pretty peak if you like sashimi; it comes with a little bit of everything premium. Kenzy was my server today. Her timing and attentiveness is right on point. Highly recommend this place.
