      • Buffers were being used and then cleaned for re-use. These were discarded. Ensure any items that are intended for single use are disposed of after each client. Porous items cannot be properly disinfected.
    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • Items that are waiting to be cleaned were set in the sink without being soaked until cleaning can be completed. Items stored in this manner can dry out, making the removal of debris difficult. Ensure items are stored in a solution until cleaned to prevent them from drying out.

      • 1. There is a missing light switch cover plate in the back room next to the exit door. 2. 1 section of ceiling tile is water damaged and can lead to mold growth. Have the tile replaced.

      • The CS20 present was expired in September 2024.Please obtain new CS20 and ensure equipment is disinfected using only product that has not passed it's expiry date.

    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • 1. cleaned and disinfected tools were drying on a towel next to the staff sink. Tools stored here can become contaminated when the sink is in use. 2. Towels were being stored right next to the staff table. REQUIRED:Have a container with lid that is large enough to store all disinfected tools after cleaning, to prevent contamination of the clean tools. Keep staff food activities separate from reprocessing of tools/storing of equipment.

      • 1. Test strips present for use were expired in 2021 2. No records of high-level disinfection were being kept. 3. cleaned tools were being placed in disinfectant without drying first, which can dilute the disinfectant. REQUIRED: 1. obtain test strips appropriate for CS20 and use them each time the disinfectant is used to ensure the disinfectant is still viable. 2. Record all information regarding the high-level disinfectant and test strips, including the pass/fail, lot, expiry, pour date, etc.3. ensure tools are completely dry before placing in disinfectant.
