      • *Karima has sent confirmation that staff are signed up to complete pool operator course on July 16-17, 2026*Owner has completed a pool operator course. However, staff who are in care and control who operate the pool and whirlpool on a daily basis must complete an approved pool operator course. A list of approved pool operator courses available in Alberta has been emailed to owner.

      • The combined chlorines measured 3.67 ppm. Ensure combined chlorines are maintained at lowest level possible or below 1 ppm. Discussed adding fresh water to basin.
    • 07. Are the filtration, circulation and disinfection systems used to maintain water quality working properly (Non-Critical)?
      • The automated controller system had an alarm present at time of inspection. Automated controller readings were: ORP actual 753 mV & set 725 mV. pH actual 6.57 & set 7.30.Inspector's test kit readings: free chlorine was over range, total chlorine was over range, pH was 7.38, and alkalinity was 103 ppm.Pool operator's kit readings: free chlorine was 14 ppm, total chlorine was 17.67 ppm, alkalinity 143 ppm, pH 8.Staff stated they need to calibrate the automated control 3-4 times daily.Operator stated Ecolab was on site in April 2026 and replaced ORP probes.

      • Water quality logs are being recorded since June 20, 2026. It was noted that June 28, 2026, was missed and not recorded. Discussed following up with staff member to ensure they are recording chemistry daily. Total chlorine was being recorded under combined chlorines. Ensure adding a total chlorine column to daily water quality logs. Automated feed system readings are not being recorded. Ensure automated controller readings are documented daily for ORP and pH. Maintenance records such as backwashing filters, vacuuming basin, cleaning skimmer baskets and scum line are not being maintained. Ensure maintenance records are kept for all pool basins, including the whirlpool.

      • The pool chemistry has not yet been balanced. No sign was posted at the pool indicating that it was closed. One patron was drying off after use of the pool. The pool cannot be open for use when the pool water chemistry has not been adjusted and confirmed to be within correct range for TA, pH, FC.A sign was posted at time of visit.The pool must remain closed until the chemistry has been rebalanced.A follow up inspection is required prior to reopening the pool.Please call me to arrange for a follow up inspection when ready to reopen the pool.

      • Details / specs for the Main drain covers need to be provided to assess whether they meet requirements for Anti entrapment. Karima will provide copies of the details for the main drains that were replaced last year.This information is required prior to reopening the pool.

      • The pool water chemistry and other parameters must be recorded daily on a log sheet and copies of the log sheets must be retained. Copies of log sheets should be kept for at least 2 years.Ensure that manual tests are carried out daily of pool water chemistry and the results recorded on a log sheet.The pool must remain closed until the chemistry has been rebalanced and recorded on a daily log sheet.A follow up inspection is required prior to reopening the pool.Please call me to arrange for a follow up inspection when ready to reopen the pool.

      • Pool water chemistry was checked at time of inspection pH 7.3 FC 6.67 ppmCC 1.45 ppm (too high – decrease combined chlorine to less than 1 ppm)TA 20 ppm (too low – increase to between 60 and 120 ppm)Pool was closed in order to add chemicals needed to rebalance the chemistry.Keep pool closed until chemistry has been corrected.

      • Log sheets for the pool and whirlpool were reviewed at time of inspection. Copies of log records were not available for today and some of the previous days. Gerardo had some of the results on his phone. Ensure that log sheets are filled out daily and retain a copy of the records in a binder – Best practice is to keep copies of the records for a minimum of 2 years.Ensure that manual tests are carried out daily of pool water chemistry and the results recorded on a log sheet.

      • A failed Water sample result was received for the pool from the sample collected on July 30th 2025 Access number 9600990.The water sample result was total coliform present.I spoke with Karima on the phone regarding the result and corrective action needed. The pool will be closed and a shock treatment conducted then the chemistry balanced and reopened. A follow up sample will be submitted next week.

The pool can be opened again after chemistry is rebalanced FAC, TC, pH, TA.Please submit a sample next week.No sample result showing up in EPHIS as of May 16. I called Amin to check if a sample has been submitted and he confirmed with staff that a sample was collected and submitted on Tue May 14.Awaiting results.
