- 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
- Operator had not submitted the Personal Service Notification to the Alberta Health Services.The PSN was submitted during the inspection.
- 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
- Written procedures for Client care in case of accidental skin cut and punctures and skin cleansing were not established.Templates for written procedures were provided during the inspection.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- It was observed that Pre-empt CS20 was being used for disinfection of semi-critical equipment.Test strips were also available for testing of HLD.However testing records were not maintained.Template for testing logs were provided during the inspection.Please make sure to test the HLD on daily basis and maintain the logs.
- 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
- During the inspection it was observed that reprocessing area of personal service facility for semi-critical equipment was located in the room with the toilet.Reprocessing area must not be located in the toilet.Different options were discussed with the operator.1)Installation of the new dedicated sink in the facility basement or laundry area. 2)Renting out the reprocessing area from the nearby salon.3) Checking with plumber for options to cap/seal off the toilet.Note: Operator confirmed that she would not be offering services involving semi-critical tools (Equipment that comes into contact with mucous membrane or non-intact skin but is not intended to puncture either of them) until the availability of proper reprocessing area.
