      • Required written procedures were not available at the time of inspection. Written procedure templates were provided, reviewed with the operator, and completed and signed during the inspection.
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • A 70% alcohol product was being used for skin antisepsis prior to personal services; however, the product did not have a DIN or NPN issued by Health Canada. Ensure only antiseptic products with a valid DIN or NPN issued by Health Canada are used for skin cleansing and antisepsis. Discontinue use of products that do not meet these requirements and obtain an approved antiseptic product for client skin preparation.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Critical)?
      • A puncture-resistant sharps container was present within the facility. However, upon inquiry, the operator advised that when the container became full of used razors, the razors were removed and disposed of in the regular garbage.Ensure all used razors and other sharps remain in an approved puncture-resistant sharps container until final disposal. Sharps containers must be disposed of in accordance with municipal waste disposal requirements and replaced as needed. Sharps must not be removed from the container and discarded in regular garbage.

      • There was some single use equipment such as nail buffers. After the conversation with the operator, the nail buffers were discarded. Please ensure single-use equipment are discarded after use on one client.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The facility has test strips for the high-level disinfectant, but the disinfection records were not completed.
