    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • Alcohol wipes were noted to be expired in Busy bee first aid kit.Ensure all first aids are stocked with current items and meet the OH & S requirements.
    • 16. Does the social care facility have adequate lighting?
      • Preschool room (Busy Bee): Lighting in teacher corner area was not sufficient, as several light bulbs were not working.*Program had informed landlord.Please ensure that sufficient lighting is available for staff and children to be able to see hazards and to be able to complete activities safely.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • Toy washing procedure was inconsistent throughout program. Reviewed toy washing procedures with staff throughout and Director/Assistant DirectorEnsure staff are following all steps:For smaller toys that can be submergedSink 1) Wash toys in hot soapy water Sink 2) Rinse soap off toys in clean potable waterSink 3) Submerge toys in approved disinfectant for required amount of time (e.g. Bleach solution at 100 ppm for 1 - 2 minutes (when not in outbreak) 1000 ppm when in outbreak)Air dry Toys that cannot be submerged, should be cleaned and disinfected with the wipe twice method, ensuring all sides are cleaned and disinfected.

      • Toddler room (sunbeam): Temperature at the hand sink was 17C (prior to lunchtime).Children were observed washing their hands, with staff supervision.*Adjust the temperature to be comfortable for handwashing. The temperature is recommended to be between mid 30 degree C - 43 degree C at hot water tap.

      • Paint was peeling off the wall near the sink in the Busy Bees room.
    • 16. Does the social care facility have adequate lighting?
      • 1 light fixture was not operational in Busy Bees room, and 1 light fixture was not operational in Happy Land room. Updated on July 8, 2024:* All light fixtures were in operation in Busy Bees room; one light fixture was repaired but 2 light fixtures were not in operation on Happy Land room.

      • 1. Some art supplies in Sunbeams room had warning labels "keep out of reach of children", and some art supplies in the Happy Land room (preschool age) were labelled as to be used by children over 5 only. Ensure that art supplies are appropriate for children's age. 2. Electrical outlets cover safety plug-ins were missing in the Busy Bees room.
    • 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
      • Some children bottles were not labelled in the Happy Land room.

      • 1. Stains were observed on the ceiling tiles near the staff room. Please investigate and remove the source of moisture and replace affected tiles.2. Paint was peeling off the wall near the sink in the Busy Bees room.
    • 16. Does the social care facility have adequate lighting?
      • 1 light fixture was not operational in Busy Bees room, and 1 light fixture was not operational in Happy Land room.
    • 30. Are workers washing hands when appropriate and/or in a proper manner?
      • Hand sanitizers observed in Happy Land room expired in 2022. They were removed during the inspection.
