    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Nail files and buffers and nail clippers and nippers were found in a couple of the manicure station drawers (that were not being used at the time of the inspection). The nail files and buffers were clearly used and had not been thrown out. This was discussed with the owner. All the used single-use items were discarded, and the reusable equipment was removed for cleaning and disinfection. All equipment that is single use (ie. foam-centered nail files and buffers) must be discarded after use on one client.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. The disinfectant in use is PreEmpt CS-20 which is fine, however, the bottle of disinfectant in use had expired. 2. The container of PreEmpt CS-20 used to disinfect the tools was filled with disinfectant, however, when tested with inspector's test strips (as the facility does not have any), no concentration of disinfectant registered on the strip. The operator was asked to dump the container and refill with some from the jug. The new batch registered at an appropriate concentration. Please purchase a new bottle of disinfectant. Ensure that it is within its expiry dates. Ensure that the disinfectant is changed out either daily or it can be used for up to 14 days as long as daily testing with appropriate test strips is conducted and recorded.

    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The facility has purchased a new bottle of PreEmpt CS-20. However, they have not gotten any test strips yet.** The facility reuses the disinfectant for a week prior to discarding which is appropriate. However, the concentration of the disinfectant must be checked every day that it is (re)used with test strips designed for this product. Please obtain test strips for the disinfectant in order to check the concentration.

Ensure that expiry dates are monitored.2. The facility reuses the disinfectant for a week prior to discarding which is appropriate.
