      • Observation(s): It was alleged that a child in care was hit with a wooden spoon by a staff member as a form of discipline. The licensee has conducted an investigation and through interviews of witnessing staff and the alleged staff member, substantiated that a child was subjected to corporal punishment while in care. The Child Care Licensing Regulation Section 52 (1)(d) states that a child must not be subjected to any form of corporal punishment while under the care and supervision of the licensee. Licensing has received a written plan indicating the steps that have been taken to ensure the safety of all children in care.
