Inspection summary

MexiGo has been inspected 2 times by Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority) since May 13, 2026. The most recent inspection, on June 12, 2026, found no infractions.

1 of 2 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 3 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on May 13, 2026. For example: Critical Improper Cleaning, Sanitizing of Equipment and Utensils

  • Food safety training and certificationLower risk

Most jurisdictions require a certified food handler or manager on site, and some require allergen or food-worker training. These findings mean the paperwork or the trained person was missing at the time. They do not by themselves mean food was handled unsafely.

Recorded once on May 13, 2026. For example: Food Handler Training

  • Other findingsLower risk

Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.

Recorded once on May 13, 2026. For example: Improper Sanitary Facilities

  1. Follow-Up

    0 infractions

  2. Routine

    3 infractions

    • Critical Improper Cleaning, Sanitizing of Equipment and Utensils
      • No QUAT sanitizer was available for food contact surfaces at the time of the inspection.
      • This violation was corrected on site. A QUAT sanitizer bucket was made by the operator for rags used for cleaning; QUAT measured 300 ppm. Immediately purchase test strips, and check every bucket of sanitizer to ensure that QUAT is between 200 and 400 ppm.
    • Improper Sanitary Facilities
      • A food processor blade was observed in the hand-washing sink. The blade had ben recently used to mix a sauce.
      • This violation was corrected on site. The blade was removed from the sink basin to the dishwashing area. Keep the use of the hand sink just for hand washing so as to not prevent hand washing from being done.
    • Food Handler Training
      • No FOODSAFE Level 1 certificates are available on site to confirm completion by on-site staff.
      • Collect and print valid, completed FOODSAFE Level 1 certificates, and keep on site at all times. Have the necessary staff complete a FOODSAFE Level 1 course or an equivalent by June 13, 2026. Comments A routine inspection was conducted today. All hand sinks are supplied with soap, paper towel, and hot and cold water. In the low temperature dishwasher for ware washing, chlorine sanitizer measures 50 ppm. All coolers measure 4°C or lower; freezers measure -18°C or lower; all hot holding units measure 60°C or higher. Temperature logs are up to date and well maintained. The ventilation hood is in satisfactory condition; the next scheduled cleaning is in June 2026. Overall, the facility is clean and well maintained, with no signs of pests at the time of the inspection.
