    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • The toy shelf on the left side of the door in room A has exposed raw wood and is rough.Please ensure all shelves and cupboards are smooth and easy to clean. Sand down the raw wood and paint the areas.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • There are no paper towels and soap at the hand wash sink in room A. There is no soap at the hand wash sink in room B.Please ensure the hand wash sinks are equipped with paper towels and soap at all times. The staff replaced the paper towels and soap immediately at the time of inspection.
    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. The hand wash sink on the right hand side of the washroom in room B has very little water pressue.2. The caulking/silicone around the hand wash sinks in all of the classrooms is heavily stained and water damaged. 1. Repair the hand wash sink and ensure there is enough water pressure to facilitate proper hand washing.2. Remove the old caulking/silicone, clean the area, and re-do the caulking/silicone.

    • 01. Is the child care facility in compliance with verbal and/or written approvals and/or orders issued by an Executive Officer, and is the Executive Officer able to exercise their duties without obstruction or interference?
      • The staff informed the inspector that they cannot let him in because the director/owner was not on site. The staff mentioned that they need to call the director first and for the director to come on site before they can allow the inspector to conduct the inspection. The inspector informed the staff that the director does not have to be present on site, and that they inspector was completing a routine, unannounced inspection. Thus, the inspector also informed the staff that the authority to inspect the facility was granted by the Alberta Public Health Act. Pleaser ensure to educate all staff to allow public health inspectors to conduct inspections of the facility upon request and after disclosing their identity. Failure to allow inspectors to inspect the facility is an Obstruction of an Executive Officer. Ensure that this does not happen again in the future.
    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • Some electrical outlets in the pre-school room and toddlers' room were not covered. The inspector informed the staff/operator that all accessible electrical outlets must be covered. The outlets were covered afterwards.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • There was no paper towel in the handwashing station in the pre-school room. Paper towels were obtained, but the towels were not placed in suitable paper towel dispenser. Please ensure that all paper towels are placed in suitable dispensers. The operator committed to putting them in a dispenser.**PUT PAPER TOWELS IN SUITABLE DISPENSERS.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • The alcohol wipes in the first-aid kits were expired. The inspector informed the staff/operator to ensure that they have a system in place that verifies that all first-aid kit supplies are still adequate and not expired. New alcohol wipes were obtained.
    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • The hot water temperature of the handwashing stations in both the pre-school room and toddlers' room was measured at 55.5°C. The inspector informed the staff/operator that the maximum water temperature cannot exceed 54°C, and recommended to be below 49°C. Please configure the water temperature, as indicated.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Water bottles in the pre-school room were not labelled with clients' names. The inspector informed the staff that all water bottles must be properly labelled with clients' names. The bottles were labelled afterwards.
