      • Nail buffers and files had visible residue on them, indicating they were being reused instead of discarded after single use, (Discarded).Discard nail buffers and files after one-time use, and ensure an adequate supply of single-use tools is maintained on site.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • There was no high-level disinfectant (HLD) available on site for reprocessing semi-critical manicure and pedicure tools. The operator was using barbicide solution for nail tools. Obtain a high-level disinfectant with a Drug Identification Number (DIN)/ Medical Device License (MDL) and ensure all semi-critical tools are cleaned and high-level disinfected according to the manufacturer’s instructions prior to each use.

      • Written procedures have not been developed for the following tasks:- Cleansing of the skin- Accidental skin cuts and punctures.REQUIREMENT: Complete the above written procedures.

      • 1) The operator did not have a sufficient container to fully submerge the reusable semi-critical tools.REQUIREMENT: Obtain a container that will allow for these tools to be fully submerged.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • The operator did not have a toilet sufficiently blocked off in an area with a proposed reprocessing sink.REQUIREMENT: Block off a toilet sufficiently so that there is no possibility of it being used.

      • 1) Operator intends to use CS20 but was unfamiliar with how it needed to be used. Operator stated that the solution would be diluted and left to sit for 30 minutes. This concern was discussed and considered corrected during the inspection.REQUIREMENT: Ensure that disinfectants are used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.2) The operator did not have a sufficient container to fully submerge the reusable semi-critical tools.REQUIREMENT: Obtain a container that will allow for these tools to be fully submerged.
