Nail Studio

110 - 3650 Westwinds Drive NE Calgary AB T3J 0W9 · Personal Services

Inspection summary

Nail Studio has been inspected 3 times by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health) since March 18, 2024. The most recent inspection, on September 2, 2026, found no infractions.

2 of 3 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 2 infractions recorded. All recorded findings relate to upkeep, equipment or paperwork rather than direct infection-control risks to clients.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their findings differently, so we group them by what they mean for clients. In personal service settings like salons, spas and tattoo studios, higher-risk findings are the ones that could spread infection from one client to the next, through broken skin, blood or instruments that were not properly cleaned and sterilized.

  • Equipment and utensilsLower risk

Instruments, chairs, tables and footbaths must be made of materials that can be cleaned, kept in good repair and stored so they stay clean. Single-use items such as nail files, buffers, razors and needles must be thrown away after each client.

Recorded 2 times on August 31, 2026. For example: Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?

    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • Clean and disinfected instruments were observed stored in clean containers inside drawers; however, dirty nail files and used equipment were stored uncovered in an open container. Failure to adequately separate clean and dirty instruments creates a risk of cross-contamination and does not comply with infection prevention and control requirements.- Immediately separate clean/disinfected instruments from used or contaminated instruments.Store dirty instruments in a designated, clearly labeled container with a lid until they are cleaned and disinfected.Store clean and disinfected instruments in a clean, covered container or cabinet to protect them from contamination.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • An expired high-level disinfectant (CS20) with an expiry date of 2023 was observed on site. Although the CS20 was not being used, the operator was using alcohol wipes to disinfect semi-critical instruments. Alcohol wipes are not an acceptable method of high-level disinfection for semi-critical equipment and do not meet the required disinfection standard.- Removed and disposed of the expired CS20.Obtain and maintain an approved high-level disinfectant that is within its expiry date and use it according to the manufacturer's instructions.Ensure all semi-critical instruments are cleaned and high-level disinfected between clients using an approved disinfection method.Train staff on the proper reprocessing requirements for semi-critical instruments and maintain records to verify compliance.Implement a system to regularly monitor and document disinfectant expiry dates to ensure only valid products are available for use.- All the disinfected tools with alcohols must be disinfected with new CS20 according to manufacture instructions.
