- 22. If the facility sterilizes equipment, are all proper sterilization, verification, and documentation processes in place (Critical)?
- 1. An unapproved dry-heat sterilizer is being used to process critical equipment and jewelry. Acceptable sterilizer units must use steam to sterilize equipment.- All sterilization activities must stop as unit is not approved and cannot be used to sterilize.- All tools and jewelry processed through the dry-heat unit must not be used and must be re-sterilized in an approved unit before use.2. Physical parameters of time and temperature are not being documented - The time and temperature of an autoclave must be documented to verify sterilization parameters were reached for each load3.
