- 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
- The owner of the personal service business did not submit a notification about the business to the Alberta Health Services. Submitted during the inspection.
- 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
- No written procedures for skin cleansing prior to services and accidental cuts were available.
- 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
- Single-use tools (buffing block and nail file) were being reused (used observed on manicure workstation). Ensure that single-use tools are discarded after each client.
- 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
- Some re-usable tools (pedicure fans) were not visibly clean. Ensure that the re-usable tools are visibly clean prior to disinfection. A round brush is recommended for cleaning of nail clippers.

- No records of testing of high-level disinfectant were available, and no testing of disinfectant has been conducted as required (test strips were available but not opened).

- Reusable foot files observed onsite could not be fully immersed for disinfection between the clients (soaking container was too small). Obtain an appropriate soaking container for disinfection.

- The concentration of high-level disinfectant (Preempt CS20) was insufficient when tested with a test strip. The solution was changed during the inspection. Ensure that the concentration of the high-level disinfectant is tested to confirm it is adequate.

- Some cosmetic products did not have appropriate labels (labels missing or not in English/French). Ensure that all cosmetic products have appropriate labels.
