    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • The following written procedures were not available to review at the time of the inspection. a) Cleansing of the skin b) Use of an antiseptic For services that puncture the skin such as tattooing, written procedures for cleansing of the skin and the use of an antiseptic are required. An AHS written template was provided to the operator.
    • 21. Is equipment that is intended to be sterile maintained sterile at the point of use?
      • No sterility assurance documentation available to review. Sterility assurance documentation is required for equipment with a sterile claim (needle cartridges) Documentation must include the following: - The name of the client- The contact information of the client - The date of the service - Description of the service - The name of the staff member conducting the service Ensure the sterility assurance documentation is completed for every service and every client. These records must be maintained for at least 2 years.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • Several inks and stencil cream were expired and stored on the trolley. Tattoo inks and stencil cream should not be used when expired as the product cannot be guaranteed safe to use past the expiration date. Ensure tattoo inks and stencil cream are regularly checked for expiration dates and discard those that are expired.The operator discarded the expired inks and stencil cream at the time of the inspection.
