    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Scoops were observed stored directly inside containers of flour and sugar. (Public health significance)- Scoops are subjected to bare hand contact when they are stored inside food items as there is a risk of cross-contamination from hands, gloves etc. Such contaminated food items if consumed may result in food-borne illness.
      • Corrective Action: Operator was asked to store scoops in a sanitary manner outside the containers in a designated holder. Operator to ensure scoops are stored in a manner that prevents food not being exposed to the handles or bare hand contact.
    • 301 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not maintained in sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
      • Observation: Accumulation of grease was observed on the exhaust hood above the pizza machine. The hood was last cleaned professionally in August 2024 and the next cleaning is scheduled for August 2025. (Public health significance)- Grease buildup on the hood poses a fire hazard due to the flammability of oils, especially in cooking areas. It also may lead to contamination of food or food contact surfaces located directly below the hood, if the grease begins to drip thereby causing health hazards.
      • Corrective Action: Operator was asked to clean the exhaust hood above the fryers at least once a month to prevent the accumulation of grease. Operator was also advised to contact the professional hood cleaning company and increase their service frequency from once a year to at least once every six months.
    • 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) The mechanical chemical dishwasher did not have adequate sanitizing rinse solution. Sanitizer solution bucket was empty at the time of inspection. (Public health significance) - Mechanical chemical dishwashers should be adequately dispensing sanitizing solution in order to sanitize the food handling equipment to eliminate micro-organisms that may result in foodborne illness.
      • Corrective Action: Operator was asked to replace the empty sanitizing rinse solution with a new one. After that, the sanitizing solution was tested at the surface of a plate after the final rinse cycle and test strips measured sanitizing solution (chlorine-100ppm). Operator to ensure that they are consistently monitored and tested to ensure efficiency.
    • 312 - Items not required for food premises operation being stored on the premises [s. 18]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) A motorbike and a small bed were observed in the back dry storage room at the time of inspection. These items are not required for the operation of the food premises. (Public health significance)- Storing items not required for the operation of food premises can compromise sanitation by introducing dirt, contaminants, or pests into food storage areas. This increases the risk of cross-contamination and may lead to adverse health effects.
      • Corrective Action: Operator moved the items out of the food storage area at the time of inspection. Operator to ensure that the general cleanliness of the food premises is maintained consistently.
