- Semi-critical equipment is being cleaned/disinfected in a mobile sink which is not permitted. Discussed sink requirements. A sink that is connected to a permanent potable water system that is capable of producing hot and cold running water is required. A shelving unit/table next to the reprocessing sink is needed to allow for sufficient work surface area to adequately accommodate the placement of contaminated reusable equipment. The work surface area and sink must be located in an area to which client access is restricted and must not be located in a room that contains a toilet or in a kitchen.
