    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • Written procedures have not been developed for cleansing of the skin for waxing.REQUIREMENT: Develop a written procedure for the above task.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • The pedicure basins were being cleaned by mixing Mr. Clean and alcohol together, a practice not supported by either of the manufacturer's instructions.This was corrected by the operator switching to Pre-empt RTU, which is both a cleaner and disinfectant.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) The operator only had expired CS20 onsite. The most recent expiration dated back to February 2024.2) The operator was not properly cleaning the pedicure basin prior to disinfection as required by the manufacturer instructions of Septi-sol.3) Staff were diluting cleaners and disinfectants with alcohol.4) Operator was only letting tools soak for 15 minutes in CS20 and not 20 minutes as required by the manufacturer. There was no reliable method to keep track of the time.All items were corrected during the inspections. - Operator has brought Pre-empt CS20 which is a cleaner and disinfectant for the pedicure basins.- A timer was bought for the CS20 to ensure 20 minutes passes, and no new tools are added while a batch is being disinfected.

      • One container of wax had notable bits of foil and hair inside the bulk supply of wax.This container was discarded during the inspection.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • 1) The waxing bed was not being cleaned and disinfected after clients were waxed. Visible bits of paper and wax were still on the bed.REQUIREMENT: Properly clean and disinfect this bed after after every client.2) The manicure stations had a build-up of nail dust in the shelf underneath. Since the inspection occurred 2 minutes after opening, this build-up was present since yesterday; no clean-up of manicure stations is being conducted after every client.REQUIREMENT: All surfaces must be maintained in a visibly clean condition.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • The ventilation system was not operational. The operator has called in a repair company to assess the system.REQUIREMENT: Do not offer personal services like acrylic nails unless there is adequate ventilation.
    • 33. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Several waxing strips with visible stains of wax were stored in the clean supply area.This was corrected during the inspection.
